What began as a quiet farming, trapping, and mining town in the 1800’s has gradually turned into one of the most beautiful recreational areas in Arkansas. As fate would have it, the completion of the Bull Shoals Dam on the White River in the early 1950’s coincided perfectly with the ever blossoming recreational habits of Americans. Throughout the 1960’s American families traveled with increasing frequency to new locations seeking rest and relaxation.
